MY CHALK OUTLINE : a podcasted nOVELLA BY MYKE BARTLETT

Last week the world ended. This is what happened next.

Theo Braithwaite came to London to find a life. Instead she found a string of dead-end jobs and a part-time thief called Kilbey Salmon.

Kilbey Salmon used to hide out among the Fallen, the people London and its history forgot. Before that he was working for the Eternal Footmen, invisible butlers to time who kept history on track. Now history is over and he's both homeless and out of a job.

With his curmudgeonly partner Nero Dusk, Kilbey is forced to start a new business from his Camden squat. When their first client arrives, demanding they solve his impending murder, it doesn't take long for things to go terribly wrong.

What begins as one murder mystery ends up as several more, until the whole of London is in danger.

'My Chalk Outline' is the next adventure in the series 'The Terrible Business of Salmon & Dusk' by Myke Bartlett. It begins December 2007.

How to Disappear Completely hits the charts again

Thanks to Mike Bennett (whose great new site and ever-increasing body of work I eye with great envy) for letting me know that How to Disappear Completely has been riding high in the Us iTunes charts again, this time reaching number 14. The evidence is below.

Once again, thanks to all of you who have helped keep Kilbey and his friends in the public eye, while I've been lying low for a while.

Why have I been lying low? Well, Kilbey is partly responsible for that. With a bit of luck, we could be hearing some more from him in the near(ish) future. Fingers crossed.

    Nero Dusk

"There was something curiously well-groomed about Nero, compared to his partner’s scruffed boots and crumpled suit. Where Kilbey’s hair was splayed and disobedient, Nero’s was well-cut and carefully styled. His sideburns were precisely arranged, suggesting to Theo, perhaps inaccurately, a fondness for Elvis. The dark shirt he wore was buttoned to the neck, his trousers were ironed in a crease and there were gold rings on three of his fingers. Leaving the cab, he had slid himself into a fur coat that might once have been modelled by some well-heeled socialite."
